REGISTRATION MATTERS

Historic & classic vehicles must comply with Vehicle Standards to operate on NSW roads regardless of the vehicle's age

Club Eligibility Committees, Responsible Persons & Scrutineers should be familiar with the NSW Vehicle Standards for light vehicles and Vehicle Sheets for HVS & CVS (see Resources below) and apply these to all vehicles before processing HVS & CVS registrations. If club officials are in any doubt, have the owner provide either an AUVIS report or HVAIS report - 

  • a "blue slip" AUVIS Report with a design check verifyies that a light vehicle is safe, and meets design and identity standards. Note: for significant modifications as per VSI 06  the vehicle must be issued a compliance certificate by a licensed certifier.
  • a "brown slip" HVAIS Report for a detailed safety, design, and identity check for heavy vehicles and buses. Note: Heavy Vehicle Standards Guides provide advice on a range of issues about heavy vehicle standards and modifications.
